My story begins with a child in a situation she has no control over, realizing that this is what the rest of her life looks like. We are brought in as she's attending elementary school. One day, her teacher notices bruising on the arm of the child. The teacher asks the child where the bruises came from and the child is too scared to respond, fearing that if word got back to her mother, the abuse would become worse. The child lives in a world of fear and constant edge and someone is finally taking notice of it. This leads to the courageous acts of the teacher reaching out to the child’s mother in a request to purchase a new pair of shoes for her student. In the end, through the teacher's actions, the impact gives the child the inspiration to not give up on her future.
